Professional golfer Grayson Murray, a two-time PGA Tour winner, has tragically passed away at the age of 30. The news was confirmed by the PGA Tour after Murray withdrew from the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, citing an illness during his second round.

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan expressed his devastation at the news, stating, “We were devastated to learn – and are heartbroken to share – that PGA Tour player Grayson Murray passed away this morning. I am at a loss for words.” Monahan also mentioned that Murray’s parents requested the tournament to continue in his honor.

Murray, who had struggled with alcohol and mental health issues in the past, had made a remarkable comeback this year by winning the Sony Open in January. This victory marked the end of a six-year winless drought for him. Murray’s management company, GSE Worldwide, expressed their condolences, stating, “Our heart aches for his family, his friends, and all who loved him during this very difficult time.”

Hailing from Raleigh, North Carolina, Murray was a promising talent in the golfing world. He had won his first PGA Tour title, the Barbasol Championship, in 2017 and had also competed in the US Open as an amateur in 2013. His best result in a major tournament was a tie for 22nd at the 2017 PGA Championship.
