Program seeking additional mentors to support new entrepreneurs

Business Link’s mentorship pilot program is making waves in the entrepreneurial community, providing valuable support to new business owners in Alberta. The program, which launched in January 2024, has already attracted 300 eager mentees looking to learn from experienced mentors.

Matt Hill, director of operations and sales at Business Link, emphasized the importance of the program in helping businesses establish a strong foundation for growth. Mentees have the opportunity to connect with mentors either in person or through virtual Zoom calls, allowing for flexibility and accessibility.

One such mentee, Lauren Wilson, shared her experience with the program as she navigates the world of small online business with her venture, Wren Bakehouse. Wilson’s mentor has been instrumental in guiding her through challenges related to staffing, finances, and growth, providing valuable insights from her own entrepreneurial journey.

Dennis Scanland, a mentor with SunnyCider, highlighted the satisfaction of sharing knowledge and expertise with aspiring entrepreneurs. Scanland’s mentee, a baker from Edmonton, benefits from his experience in licensing and marketing, setting the stage for a successful business launch.

Business Link is actively seeking more mentors to join the program and support the next generation of business owners. With a focus on fostering community connections and sustainability, the mentorship program plays a crucial role in shaping the future of Alberta’s economy.
