Defending champion Novak Djokovic kicked off his French Open 2024 campaign with a first-round match against local wildcard Pierre-Hugues Herbert at Roland Garros in Paris on Tuesday. The two will battle it out during the night session on Court Philippe-Chatrier, with Djokovic looking to make a strong start to his title defense.

In other matches on the third day of the tournament, two-time men’s runner-up Casper Ruud faced Brazilian qualifier Felipe Meligeni Alves, while in the women’s singles, second seed Aryna Sabalenka took on Erika Andreeva and fourth seed Elena Rybakina played against Belgium’s Greet Minnen.

On Court Suzanne-Lenglen, Rybakina faced Minnen in the women’s singles, while Tomas Martin Etcheverry took on Arthur Cazaux in the men’s singles. Daria Kasatkina played against Magdalena Frech, and Holger Rune faced Daniel Evans.

Over on Court Simonne-Mathieu, Alex de Minaur battled Alex Michelsen, Taylor Fritz took on Federico Coria, Madison Keys faced Renata Zarazua, and Victoria Azarenka played against Nadia Podoroska.
