Proposal for a luxurious hotel and spa worth millions in a picturesque village in Rotherham

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Plans are in motion to transform a collection of agricultural buildings in a charming village in Rotherham into a luxurious destination hotel and spa. The Fitzwilliam Wentworth Estate is working with the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust to revamp the site at Home Farm, located at the entrance to Wentworth Woodhouse.

The proposed development includes converting the existing buildings into a boutique hotel with 17 guest bedrooms, a restaurant, spa facilities, and additional accommodation suites. The site will also feature a pool, cafe, coffee shop, and event space. Modern structures will be demolished to make way for holiday cottages and a water terrace garden.

The Fitzwilliam Estate aims to introduce a focus on food, drawing inspiration from their success in developing Malton as Yorkshire’s Food Capital. They plan to collaborate with local producers, artisans, and hospitality businesses to enhance the food offerings in the area.

The Home Farm, dating back to the 1700s, boasts several Grade-II listed buildings, including the main threshing barn, the Octagon Lodge, and the Power House. Pre-application advice has been sought from Rotherham Council, and a formal planning application is in the works.

With over 400 parking spaces planned in a nearby wooded area, access to the site will remain convenient for visitors. The transformation of Home Farm into a vibrant hotel and spa complex is set to breathe new life into the picturesque village of Rotherham.
