# North Tama Teacher Brenda Kaufmann Honored as 2024 Iowa Teacher of the Year Finalist

## Recognition Luncheon with State Leaders
Last Friday, North Tama teacher Brenda Kaufmann was among the top teachers in Iowa honored at the 2024 Outstanding Iowa Teachers Recognition Luncheon. The event, hosted by Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg, and Iowa Department of Education Director McKenzie Snow, took place at the Iowa Culinary Institute at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) in Ankeny.

## Keynote Speakers and Awardees
The luncheon featured speeches from the current Iowa Teacher of the Year, Krystal Colbert, and the newly honored 2024 Iowa Teacher of the Year, Ann Mincks. Mincks, a 16-year English Language Learner educator, emphasized the importance of evidence-based teaching practices. Additionally, Jennifer Paulsen, a veteran social studies educator, was recognized as the 2023 Iowa History Teacher of the Year.
