PSU basketball team welcomes new player Hudson Ward

Penn State men’s basketball head coach Mike Rhoades has solidified a top-25 recruiting class with the addition of 6-7 forward Hudson Ward. Ward, hailing from Leduc, Alberta, Canada, recently signed his National Letter of Intent during the spring signing period, completing Penn State’s four-member class of 2028.

The addition of Ward has boosted Penn State’s recruiting class to 23rd in the nation, according to 247Sports. Alongside Ward, the class includes Jahvin Carter, Miles Goodman, and Dominick Stewart, who all signed their National Letters of Intent in November.

Ward, a three-star forward, has made a name for himself as a top-200 player in his class. With impressive stats averaging 26.2 points, 9.6 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game at Western Canada Prep Academy, Ward has proven himself as a valuable asset on the court.

Not only has Ward excelled in his prep career, but he has also represented Canada on the U17 Team in the FIBA Basketball World Cup and played in the EYBL Peach Jam with Uplay Canada. His dedication to both academics and athletics has earned him a spot on the honor roll.

Ward’s decision to choose Penn State was influenced by the welcoming atmosphere and strong familial bond he felt with the coaching staff. Coach Rhoades praised Ward’s skills as a versatile forward who can excel both offensively and defensively, expressing excitement to welcome him to the Penn State basketball family.

With Ward’s commitment, Penn State’s basketball program looks to the future with optimism and anticipation for his arrival in Happy Valley in June.
