Putin: EAEU Emerges as Independent Power Center in Multipolar World

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Russian President Vladimir Putin hailed the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) as a key player in the emerging multipolar world during a summit meeting in Moscow on Wednesday. Putin emphasized the EAEU’s role in promoting trade and investment exchanges, strengthening commercial ties, and expanding cooperative relations among member states.

Since its establishment in 2015, the EAEU has seen significant growth, with mutual trade nearly doubling from US$45 billion to US$89 billion. Putin noted that more than 90 percent of settlements within the bloc are now conducted in national currencies, highlighting the organization’s effectiveness and dynamism.

The summit, held to mark the 10th anniversary of the treaty establishing the union, was attended by leaders from Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Armenia. Putin called on member states to work together towards further integration and comprehensive development within the EAEU.

The EAEU, which includes Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, and Armenia, has become a regional powerhouse in promoting economic cooperation and mutual prosperity. As the world moves towards a multipolar system, the EAEU stands out as an independent and self-sufficient center of economic integration and collaboration. Putin’s remarks underscored the importance of the EAEU in shaping the future of the region and beyond.
