Qualcomm has taken a significant leap forward in the tech world with the introduction of Microsoft’s new Copilot+ PC category. The Snapdragon X series chips have finally arrived, marking a new era in laptop technology. Microsoft has unveiled over 20 new laptops from major OEMs, all available for pre-order and set to hit the market on June 18.

The highlight of these new laptops is the integration of Copilot AI, a feature that Microsoft has been aggressively promoting. Every laptop in this category will come equipped with a mandatory Copilot key, a dedicated spot on the screen, and extended support for Windows 10 to accommodate the new AI system.

What sets these Copilot+ PCs apart from regular laptops is the inclusion of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X series SoCs, boasting a powerful NPU that delivers 45 TOPS of compute power. These laptops will also feature a minimum of 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD storage, and most impressively, “multiple days of battery life.” ASUS claims 18 hours of battery life for its Vivobook S 15, while HP’s OmniBook X and EliteBook Ultra promise a staggering 26 hours on a single charge.

While Qualcomm has the head start with the Copilot+ PC category, Intel and AMD are not far behind. Both companies are gearing up to release new laptop processors with NPU power that could qualify for the Copilot+ designation. The competition is heating up, and all eyes will be on Computex 2024 next month for more insights into the future of laptop technology.
