Reading Time: < 1 minute

In 2025, golf enthusiasts can look forward to an exciting lineup of amateur championships and international matches hosted by The R&A at renowned venues in Great Britain, Ireland, and beyond. The prestigious 130th Amateur Championship will take place at Royal St George’s and Royal Cinque Ports in June, with past champions like Harry Ellis and Garrick Porteous making their mark on these historic courses.

Meanwhile, the world’s leading women players will compete at Nairn in Scotland for The 122nd Women’s Amateur Championship, following in the footsteps of past champions like Maureen Madill. The biennial Walker Cup will see leading male amateurs from GB&I and the USA face off at Cypress Point in California, with Dean Robertson leading the visitors.

Johnnie Cole-Hamilton, Executive Director of Championships at The R&A, emphasized the importance of these events in showcasing elite amateur golf on a global stage. The calendar for 2025 also includes the R&A Girls’ and Boys’ Amateur championships, the R&A Women’s and Men’s Senior Amateur championships, and various international matches between GB&I and the Continent of Europe.

Notably, the realignment of the Walker Cup and St Andrews Trophy will see these events alternating between even and odd years starting in 2025. This strategic move aims to enhance the prestige and competitiveness of these tournaments in the years to come.
