Rachel Gailis and Carly Briggs are prepared for Monday’s NCAA First Round in Oklahoma

The Florida Gators are gearing up for the 2024 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma, with Rachel Gailis and Carly Briggs set to represent the team in the singles bracket. Both players received at-large selections to compete among the top 64 athletes in the nation.

Carly Briggs, ranked No. 56, will kick off the action for the Gators with a match against No. 116 Sofia Johnson of Old Dominion at 2 p.m. ET. Briggs is coming off a stellar season, finishing with a nine-match win streak and 13 consecutive straight set wins in singles. She will look to continue her individual success in Oklahoma.

On the other hand, No. 8 Rachel Gailis will face off against No. 37 Julia Garcia Ruiz from Oklahoma at 2:30 p.m. ET. Gailis, a sophomore, has been a key player for the Gators this season, defeating seven nationally ranked players and securing wins on court one. She will aim to make a strong debut in the NCAA singles tournament.

The Gators have a rich history in the NCAA singles tournament, with four previous champions and a total of 10 appearances in the championship match. The team will look to add to their legacy as they compete in the upcoming matches.
