The North County boys tennis team clinched the Class 1, District 1 championship in a thrilling showdown against Potosi, with senior Zeb Murphy and junior Caleb Pack leading the charge.
In a nail-biting match that saw two super tiebreakers, Murphy secured a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Draven Griffin, while Pack dominated with a 6-2, 6-1 win against Logan Compton. The Raiders also secured crucial doubles victories, narrowly missing out on a sweep.
Despite a valiant effort from Potosi, who picked up a win in the senior doubles pairing, North County emerged victorious with a final score of 5-2. The win propels North County to a state sectional clash against Lutheran South.
The match was not without its share of drama, as Jordan Snider of Potosi rallied from a first-set loss to clinch a hard-fought victory over Landon Whitfield in a super tiebreaker. Noah Stark of North County mirrored Snider’s performance with a comeback win of his own.
With the win, North County completed a clean sweep of the season series against Potosi, showcasing their dominance in the district. The team’s stellar performance was a testament to their hard work and dedication throughout the season.
