The Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Raiders and the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines had impressive victories in high school softball action on Friday, April 12.
In the first game, the Raiders dominated the Pine River-Backus Tigers with an 11-1 victory. Reagan Ludovissie led the charge with a stellar performance both at the plate and on the mound. Ludovissie went 3-4 with a double, two RBIs, and a run scored, while also pitching a solid game for the Raiders. Carissa Winscher and Taylor Johnson also had standout performances, with Winscher hitting a homerun and a double, and Johnson contributing with a double, two RBIs, and two runs scored.
Meanwhile, the Wolverines swept the Pillager Huskies in a doubleheader, winning 12-0 and 14-4. Jenna Dykhoff and Jada Dykhoff were the stars of the day for Wadena-Deer Creek. Jenna combined to go 3-5 with a double, five runs, and six RBIs, while Jada hit a grand slam, doubled twice, and went 4-5 with five RBIs and five runs.
Overall, it was a successful day for both teams, with the Raiders improving to 3-0 and the Wolverines maintaining their perfect 6-0 record. The next games for the teams are scheduled for Monday, April 15. Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale will face Pillager, while Wadena-Deer Creek will host Parkers Prairie.
