Railways Signs Agreement with Tech Firm for Implementation of Train Collision Avoidance System KAVACH

In a significant development, the Indian Railways has signed an agreement with a tech firm for the exploration and delivery of the train collision avoidance system KAVACH implementation projects in India and other countries. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between RailTel Corporation of India Limited and Quadrant Future Tek Limited.

According to the statement released by RailTel, the agreement with the tech firm is specifically for exploring and delivering KAVACH implementation projects. KAVACH is an automatic train protection (ATP) system developed indigenously by the Indian Railways, requiring the highest safety certification standards.

The implementation of KAVACH on the Indian Railways network is a top priority for the national transporter, with the system being designated as a “National ATP System” by the Ministry of Railways in July 2020. Quadrant Future Tek Limited is currently undergoing the final approval process by the Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) as an OEM for the KAVACH project.

RailTel, with its team of experts in Railway Signalling System, is fully equipped to handle massive upgrade projects like KAVACH. The partnership between RailTel and Quadrant Future Tek Limited aims to aggressively explore KAVACH project opportunities both in India and abroad.

Chairman-cum-managing director of RailTel, Sanjai Kumar, expressed the commitment of RailTel to contribute to the implementation of indigenous safety systems like KAVACH and to promote the technology globally. Quadrant Future Tek Limited, a technology and innovation-driven company, is certified to ISO/IRIS/TS quality management systems.

The collaboration between RailTel and Quadrant Future Tek Limited signifies a significant step towards enhancing safety measures in the Indian Railways network and potentially in other countries as well.
