The tourism department of Rajasthan is gearing up to host the thirteenth Great Indian Travel Bazaar (GITB) in Jaipur from May 5-7 to promote tourism in the state. Organized jointly with the Centre’s tourism ministry and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci), the event aims to showcase the state’s tourism infrastructure.
During the event, cultural events highlighting the art, tourism, and history of Rajasthan will be showcased. Visitors will also have the opportunity to savor Rajasthani dishes and explore the ‘Wed in India Expo’ on the first day, aimed at promoting destination weddings in the state.
Rajasthan’s tourism director, Rashmi Sharma, emphasized the importance of attracting tourists from India and abroad to choose Rajasthan as their wedding destination. The event will also feature business-to-business meetings with foreign tour operators on the second and third day, followed by tours across Rajasthan from May 8.
Gaurav Khandelwal, a Jaipur-based travel agent, expressed enthusiasm for the potential growth of the destination wedding market in Rajasthan. Bhavani Shankar Mali, general secretary of All Wedding Industries Federation, Rajasthan, highlighted the significant number of weddings held in the state annually and the potential economic benefits of promoting Rajasthan as a destination wedding hotspot.
With efforts to increase destination weddings, the tourism industry and state government aim to create new employment opportunities, generate revenue, and boost business for hotels and the tourism sector in Rajasthan. The GITB event comes at a crucial time to drive forward these initiatives and showcase the state’s potential as a premier tourism destination.
