Rajasthan’s Travel Industry Advocates for Infrastructure Improvements to Enhance Wedding Tourism

The travel industry in Rajasthan is pushing for a major upgrade in infrastructure and connectivity to support the government’s initiative to promote wedding tourism in the state. Industry experts are emphasizing the need for excellent infrastructure, especially in areas with heritage properties, for destination weddings to thrive in Rajasthan.

Gaurav Khandelwal, a travel agency owner, points out that while cities like Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, and Ajmer have seen infrastructure development, other regions like Shekhawati, Kota-Bundi, and Pali-Sirohi have been left behind. This lack of development has hindered the popularity of destination weddings in these areas, leading to a concentration of weddings in a few major cities.

Sanjay Kaushik, a tour operator, highlights the challenges faced by Indians living abroad who want to organize weddings in regions like Shekhawati due to a lack of suitable heritage properties and accommodations for guests. He suggests that the government should provide incentives to encourage development in these underserved areas.

In addition to infrastructure, air connectivity is also a concern in these regions. Kaushik believes that with the right facilities, Shekhawati could become a prime destination for weddings, given its unique heritage and cultural offerings.

Ranvijay Singh, from the Hotel Federation of Rajasthan, stresses the dual benefits of investing in infrastructure – creating new tourist destinations and boosting tourism while also increasing destination weddings. He expresses optimism about ongoing discussions with the state government regarding improving tourism infrastructure.

Bhavani Shankar Mali, from the All Wedding Industries Federation, Rajasthan, sees great potential for economic growth if the state government enhances infrastructure facilities to attract more destination weddings. The recent Great Indian Travel Bazaar in Jaipur showcased Rajasthan as an ideal location for memorable wedding experiences, aiming to draw both domestic and international couples to the state’s grandeur.
