In a stunning turnaround, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have revived their hopes of making it to the IPL 2024 playoffs with five consecutive wins. The team, which seemed down and out after a string of losses in the initial matches, now faces a crucial showdown with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a virtual knockout match on Saturday.
One of the key players in RCB’s resurgence has been middle-order batter Rajat Patidar, who has credited the team’s impressive revival to their renewed mantra of ‘playing for pride.’ Patidar, who has scored 320 runs at a strike rate of 179.8 in his last seven outings, has been instrumental in RCB’s recent success.
Speaking about the team’s turnaround, Patidar mentioned, “To get support from the franchise and the team management allows the players to do their best on the field. The environment was good in the team even when things were not going our way. I think that plays a huge role in building the character of the team.”
Patidar also had words of praise for RCB icon Virat Kohli, stating, “He (Kohli) always keeps the team first, which is a good thing to learn for every player.”
In order to secure a spot in the playoffs, RCB must defeat CSK and reach 14 points, while also ensuring that their Net Run Rate is higher than other teams vying for the fourth spot. They will also be hoping for Sunrisers Hyderabad to lose both their remaining games or Lucknow Super Giants not to win their last match by a big margin.
With their fate hanging in the balance, RCB will be looking to continue their winning streak and secure a spot in the playoffs in what promises to be a thrilling encounter against CSK.
