Rantoul Athletes Reichenbach and Sherrick Sweep Athlete of the Week Honors

Rantoul High School athletes Eli Reichenbach and Addy Sherrick have been named this week’s winners of the Athlete of the Week award, sponsored by Copper Creek Contractors. Reichenbach, a standout baseball player, and Sherrick, a talented softball pitcher, both received the honor for their outstanding performances on the field.

Sherrick pitched a remarkable five-inning no-hitter with seven strikeouts in Rantoul softball’s 11-0 victory over Blue Ridge. She also excelled at the plate, going 3 for 3 with a home run, double, and four RBI. Reflecting on her achievement, Sherrick expressed gratitude for the support of her teammates and shared her excitement at winning alongside Reichenbach.

On the baseball diamond, Reichenbach led the Eagles to a dominant 19-1 win against Decatur Eisenhower with a pair of hits, including an inside-the-park home run, and six RBI. He credited his teammates for putting him in positions to succeed and emphasized the importance of taking it slow and staying focused during his at-bats.

Both athletes shared their favorite movies, music genres, superpowers they wish they had, and their aspirations for the future. Sherrick revealed her dream of playing college softball and studying construction management, while Reichenbach expressed his desire to play collegiate baseball and pursue a career in engineering.
