RCB skipper Faf du Plessis reflects on significant progress after victory against GT | Cricket

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Faf du Plessis expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance after their convincing nine-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League 2024.

Du Plessis, who scored 24 runs from 12 balls at a strike rate of 200, highlighted the progress made by RCB in both the bowling and batting departments. Despite his dismissal in the fourth over, the skipper praised the team’s overall performance.

Speaking after the match, Du Plessis described the pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium as a “good wicket” and credited the squad for gaining confidence as the tournament progresses.

“We were way off in the beginning of the tournament, but it feels like there’s confidence in the group and you can see that in both bowling and batting. The guys are doing a really good job,” Du Plessis said.

In the match, RCB won the toss and chose to field first, allowing GT to reach a total of 200/3 thanks to impressive performances from Sai Sudharsan and Shahrukh Khan. Despite a shaky start from the RCB bowlers, the team managed to chase down the target with ease, thanks to contributions from Virat Kohli and Will Jacks.

With this win, RCB secured their third victory of the season but still find themselves at the bottom of the IPL 2024 standings with six points. Meanwhile, GT sits in seventh place with eight points after winning four out of their ten matches.

Overall, Du Plessis remains optimistic about RCB’s progress and is confident that the team will continue to improve as the tournament unfolds.
