The highly anticipated film adaptation of President Ronald Reagan’s life, starring Dennis Quaid, has finally secured a release date of Aug. 30 after facing multiple delays due to the COVID-19 lockdowns and an actors’ strike.

Titled “Reagan,” the movie is produced by ShowBiz Direct and is set against the backdrop of the Cold War. It follows the journey of the 40th president of the United States from his humble beginnings in a small town, through his Hollywood career, to his significant global political influence. The story is narrated through the eyes of Viktor Petrovich, a former KGB agent, offering a fresh perspective on Reagan’s legacy and the impact he had, which piqued Soviet interest during his acting days.

Quaid, who plays the titular role, expressed the challenges of portraying such an iconic figure, calling it one of his most interesting roles. The star-studded cast also includes Penelope Ann Miller as Nancy Reagan, Mena Suvari as Jane Wyman, and Jon Voight as Petrovich, among others. The film is directed by Sean McNamara, known for his work on “Soul Surfer” and “Miracle Season.”

Despite being a historical biopic, “Reagan” naturally incorporates faith elements, particularly through Reagan’s mother, Nelle, who was devout. The movie showcases the ups and downs of Reagan’s life, highlighting his setbacks and successes, providing a realistic and inspiring portrayal of one of America’s most consequential presidents.

Quaid, who is known for his Christian faith, shared his passion for using his platform to tell stories that honor his beliefs, family, and country. With a growing demand for positive and uplifting films, Quaid believes that audiences are seeking meaningful content that resonates with their spirits, a sentiment echoed by his involvement in “Reagan.”
