Recognizing Outstanding Achievements: Commending Emerging Leaders in Teaching and Research at Leeds School of Business

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder is celebrating the exceptional talent of its faculty members through the Leeds Faculty Scholars initiative. This program aims to recognize and support the teaching and research efforts of pre-tenured and non-tenure track faculty members who show great promise in their respective fields.

One standout faculty member who has been honored as a Leeds Faculty Scholar is Accounting Professor Jeremiah Contreras. Contreras has been named the Kala and Shiv Khatri Endowed Faculty Scholar for his innovative teaching methods that transform learning from passive to active. His dedication to enhancing the student experience and pushing the boundaries of traditional education has earned him this prestigious recognition.

The Faculty Scholars program provides each recipient with a named position and an annual expense account to further their teaching, research, and professional development. This support allows faculty members like Contreras to continue making a positive impact on student lives and producing groundbreaking research.

In addition to Contreras, 20 other faculty members have been named Leeds Faculty Scholars, each with their own named position and unique contributions to the school. These scholars have already begun utilizing their stipends to pursue opportunities such as obtaining certificates in leadership and management, presenting research at international conferences, and acquiring cutting-edge technology to advance their research efforts.

The generosity of 13 donors and personal contributions from Dean Vijay Khatri have made this initiative possible, highlighting the commitment of the Leeds community to investing in the growth and success of its faculty members. As the program continues to expand, more faculty members will have the opportunity to be recognized for their outstanding work and receive the support they need to excel in their careers.
