Redeeming 75K Chase points for a spontaneous trip to Mexico for 2

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and Chase Sapphire Reserve® are currently offering sign-up bonuses of 75,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after spending $4,000 in the first three months. To showcase the value of these bonuses, three TPG staffers embarked on trips using these points.

One of the staffers, Katie Genter, decided to plan a last-minute weekend escape to Mexico with her husband using the 75,000 Chase points. She booked flights and a stay at the Dreams Jade Resort & Spa in Cancun. Despite the limited availability due to peak nights, Katie was able to secure a two-night stay at the resort for 46,000 points, which would have cost $1,088 if paid in cash.

For their flights, Katie booked a nonstop flight from Houston to Cancun for 4,565 points and a return flight from Cancun to Austin for 23,074 points. With the help of her husband’s Southwest Companion Pass, they were able to enjoy these flights at a minimal cost.

During their stay at the resort, Katie and her husband enjoyed the beachfront location, good-quality food, and the energetic atmosphere of the guests and staff. Despite some challenges with flight changes and boarding positions, they had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend escape.

Overall, Katie found the trip to be worth it, showcasing how one sign-up bonus and some cash for additional expenses could provide a memorable getaway. With the current sign-up bonuses on the Chase Sapphire cards, now is a great time to apply and start planning your own travel adventures.
