The boys tennis teams from Redwood High and The Branson School showcased their dominance in the North Coast Section Division I and II playoffs on Thursday. Both teams breezed through their quarterfinal matches, winning all six matches to secure a spot in the semifinals on Saturday.
Redwood’s Jackson Sichel sealed the deal with a victory at No. 2 singles, propelling the No. 4 Giants to face off against No. 1 California at James Logan High in Union City. The final showdown will also take place at the same venue later that day.
Meanwhile, No. 2 Branson will go head-to-head with No. 3 Bishop O’Dowd at Golden Gate Park on Saturday morning. The final match for Branson is scheduled for later in the day. Additionally, top-seeded University advanced by defeating No. 9 Marin Academy with a score of 6-1.
In other sports news, Marin Catholic’s Alyssa Kooy has committed to swim for Chapman University, a Division III school in the Southern California Interscholastic Athletic Conference. Kooy’s impressive performances at the MCAL championships, where she finished second in the 50-yard free and 100 free, contributed to Marin Catholic’s victories in the 200 free relay and 400 free relay events.
