Reese Witherspoon responds to Nicole Kidman’s memory lapse on NBC Connecticut

Reese Witherspoon has been caught in a case of mistaken identity with her “Big Little Lies” co-star Laura Dern. In a video for Vanity Fair, Nicole Kidman pointed out that Witherspoon always refers to Dern by her last name, which she found odd. Witherspoon then had to remind Kidman that her own birth name is Laura Jean Reese Witherspoon, and she shortened it to her mother’s maiden name before entering the entertainment industry.

Kidman, 56, admitted she had forgotten that both her co-stars shared the first name Laura, but she still found the situation confusing, especially since Dern doesn’t even call Witherspoon by her first name. Witherspoon, 48, jokingly responded that Kidman was trying to make sense of something that just didn’t make sense.

Despite the confusion over names, Witherspoon has been making a name for herself in Hollywood since she was a child. Starting at the age of 7 in a florist’s commercial, she later made her feature film debut at 14 in “The Man on the Moon,” a role that kickstarted her journey to stardom. Reflecting on her career, Witherspoon expressed gratitude for the ups and downs that led her to where she is today.

Witherspoon recently attended an award show with her eldest son, Deacon Reese Phillippe, by her side. As she continues to shine in her career, the actress remains known by her stage name, but the mix-up with Laura Dern certainly added a humorous twist to her Hollywood journey.
