Rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury set for December in Saudi Arabia

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The highly anticipated rematch between heavyweight champions Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury has been confirmed for December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The announcement was made by Turki Alalshikh, head of the Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Fund, on Wednesday.

In their previous bout earlier this month, Usyk came close to knocking out Fury but ultimately won a close split decision to unify the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC, and WBO world heavyweight titles, improving his professional record to 22-0. Fury, on the other hand, now holds a record of 34-1-1.

Despite the outcome, Usyk remained gracious in victory, stating that there was “no problem” with the lack of a knockout. However, Fury was vocal in his disappointment, suggesting that judges may have favored Usyk due to the conflict involving his home country of Ukraine.

Fury expressed his belief that he won the fight and announced his intention to exercise the rematch clause in October. However, the rematch has been scheduled for December, extending the wait for fans eager to see these two heavyweights face off once again.

Both fighters have shown respect for each other’s skills and determination, with Fury acknowledging the close nature of the fight and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to compete at the highest level. With the rematch set to take place in Saudi Arabia, boxing fans around the world are eagerly anticipating another thrilling showdown between Usyk and Fury.
