Renowned Country Songwriter John Schweers Passes Away at 78, Known for Hit Song “Amazing Love”

John Schweers, a beloved songwriter and San Antonio native, passed away at the age of 78 on Tuesday, May 28. Schweers, known for his legendary songwriting in the country music world, left behind a legacy of countless hits that have shaped the genre.

Throughout his decades-long career, Schweers penned songs that became classics in the country music industry. From Charley Pride to Trace Adkins, Schweers’ songwriting credits include hits that have stood the test of time. His talent and dedication to his craft earned him several songwriting awards and nominations for the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.

In the wake of his passing, Schweers’ peers and fellow musicians have taken to social media to pay tribute to the late songwriter. Country singer Tony Ramey praised Schweers for his contributions to music history and celebrated his life and legacy.

Schweers’ widow, Jane Schweers, is currently making arrangements for a “celebration of life” at Brentwood Baptist Church in the coming week. The funeral affairs will be handled by Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens in Nashville, Tennessee.
