President Biden reassured Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the United States would not be participating in any offensive against Iran following Iran’s airborne attack on Saturday. The president commended Israel’s defense during the attacks, stating that nothing of “value” was hit and that Israel’s ability to intercept nearly all of the hundreds of missiles and drones showcased its military superiority.

Israeli Defense Forces reported that they had shot down the “vast majority” of projectiles outside of Israel’s borders, with assistance from the US military. Despite a few missiles making it through and striking an Israeli base, damages were minor, and no injuries were reported.

President Biden, in a statement released after his phone call with Netanyahu, highlighted the US military’s support in helping Israel defend against the incoming drones and missiles. US forces intercepted more than 70 drones and at least three ballistic missiles, with the missiles being shot down by guided missile destroyers deployed in the eastern Mediterranean. US fighter jets also played a role in defending Israel from the attack.

Biden announced plans to meet with G7 leaders to coordinate a united diplomatic response to Iran’s attack. While no attacks were reported on US forces or facilities, the president emphasized remaining vigilant to all threats and taking necessary action to protect the American people. The situation remains tense as world leaders navigate the aftermath of the attack and work towards a diplomatic resolution.
