A tragic incident unfolded in a mall in Sydney, Australia, as a mother, Ashlee Good, bravely handed over her injured nine-month-old baby to a stranger in a desperate attempt to save her before she succumbed to fatal injuries in a stabbing incident.
The heart-wrenching moment was recounted by the man who saved the baby, who shared, “The mum got stabbed and came over with the baby and threw it at me.” The man, along with his brother, immediately sprang into action, trying to stop the baby from bleeding by compressing the wounds until help arrived.
Fortunately, the nine-month-old baby underwent surgery and is now recovering well, according to reports from the family. Good’s family expressed their gratitude towards the medical team at Sydney’s Children’s Hospital, the police, and the two men who cared for the baby in her time of need.
The family described Good as a “beautiful mother, daughter, sister, partner, friend, all-round outstanding human,” highlighting her selfless act of bravery in the face of danger. The North Melbourne football club honored Good, who was the daughter of former Australian football league player Kerry Good, during a match with black armbands as a tribute.
The assailant responsible for the tragic attack, identified as Joel Cauchi, was reported to have mental health issues, according to New South Wales Police. The incident left six people dead, including the suspect, and has left the community in shock and mourning.
