Report suggests Jim Biden’s connections to Qatar may run deeper than believed

A new report has surfaced shedding light on the alleged business ties between Jim Biden, brother of President Joe Biden, and the Qatari government. According to recent testimony obtained by Politico, fund manager Michael Lewitt revealed in a Kentucky bankruptcy court that two companies, the Platinum Group USA and Obermeyer Engineering Consulting, involved in Jim Biden’s efforts to secure funding for U.S. healthcare ventures were partially owned by “members of the Qatari government.”

These alleged arrangements would mark the closest financial ties between a relative of the president and a foreign government. The first company mentioned in Lewitt’s testimony directly partnered with Jim Biden for fundraising, while the second company provided financial backing for loans that a hospital chain paid Jim Biden to arrange.

Jim Biden reportedly sought money from Qatari sources for ventures in the United States shortly after leaving the vice presidency in the Obama administration. Public records and emails suggest that Jim Biden explored ways to circumvent restrictions on moving money internationally.

The fundraising efforts faced obstacles, including legal troubles related to moving investments across borders. Despite these challenges, Lewitt expressed confidence that loans to Americore, the healthcare business Jim Biden was involved with, would be repaid soon through funds from Dubai.

The fundraising efforts have become embroiled in legal controversies, with investors from Lewitt’s company suing him for allegedly embezzling money through Americore to Jim Biden and others. Investigations are ongoing in federal court in Florida, looking into Third Friday’s loans to Americore and other dealings involving Jim Biden, Lewitt, Rustom, and the Platinum Group.
