Milwaukee, WI – As the Republican National Convention approaches, businesses in Milwaukee are feeling the pressure as bookings for events remain slow. Despite the city’s excitement to host the convention, venues like Birch, Pabst and Riverside theaters, and restaurants like Lupi & Iris are struggling to secure contracts for events surrounding the gathering.
The lack of bookings has left many wondering what is causing the delay. Some speculate that turnover within the convention staff, a small city lacking event infrastructure, or reluctance to participate in an event showcasing former President Donald J. Trump and his supporters could be contributing factors.
However, Republicans involved in the planning of the convention remain optimistic. They claim that fundraising is ahead of schedule and that bookings are actively being worked out between groups and venues. The R.N.C.’s Committee on Arrangements has cited 50 events that are either signed or in the process of being contracted.
Despite the slow start, some venues like the Bradley Symphony Center are seeing confirmed bookings, with additional events in the works. As the convention date approaches, businesses in Milwaukee are hopeful that bookings will pick up and the city will shine as a host for the Republican National Convention.
