Reuters/Ipsos Poll Shows Biden’s Approval Rating Hits Nearly Two-Year Low

President Joe Biden’s public approval rating hit a new low this month, according to a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll. The four-day poll, which concluded on Monday, revealed that only 36% of Americans approve of Biden’s job performance as president, down from 38% in April. This drop brings Biden back to his lowest approval rating since July 2022, raising concerns for his reelection campaign.

The poll also highlighted some key issues that voters are concerned about. The state of the economy was identified as the top problem facing the country, followed by political extremism and immigration. When it comes to economic policies, 40% of respondents believe that former President Donald Trump had better policies for the U.S. economy, compared to 30% who favored Biden.

In terms of specific issues, Trump had a significant edge on immigration, while Biden had a slight advantage on political extremism. Respondents also believed that Trump had a better approach to foreign conflicts and terrorism.

The state of the U.S. economy remains a critical factor in Biden’s hopes for reelection, as voters have been grappling with rising consumer prices and concerns about inflation. Additionally, Biden’s age, at 81, is a worry for some voters.

On the other hand, Trump is facing legal challenges, including four criminal prosecutions related to his attempts to overturn the 2020 election results. Despite these challenges, Trump continues to claim that the election was fraudulent, a narrative that has divided the country since the events of January 6, 2021.

As the presidential election approaches, both Biden and Trump face significant hurdles in their quest for the White House.
