Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business is set to undergo a major transformation with the groundbreaking of a new $54.5 million building. The innovative design of the 112,000-square-foot structure will cater to the school’s expanding student and faculty population, featuring state-of-the-art classrooms, modern office spaces, and vibrant amenities.

Rice Business has seen significant growth in recent years, with new programs and increased enrollment driving the need for a larger facility. The new building, set to be completed in spring 2026, will seamlessly integrate with the current McNair Hall, enhancing the campus environment and fostering a collaborative culture.

Dean Peter Rodriguez expressed excitement about the new facility, highlighting its importance in attracting top talent to Rice Business. The expanded space will support various teaching and learning styles, including traditional lectures and informal collaborations, with a focus on team-based learning.

The new building will serve as a hub for innovation and leadership development, offering versatile spaces for entrepreneurship programs, events, and accelerators. It will also provide a premier location for speakers from the business community, connecting students with top organizations and minds in the field.

Designed to blend seamlessly with the campus and its surroundings, the new building will feature a serrated brick facade, a red clay-tile roof, and flood-proofing measures to enhance resilience to extreme weather. Fundraising efforts are underway to support the project, with a goal of $40 million.

As Rice Business celebrates its 50th anniversary, the new building represents a significant milestone in the school’s history, signaling a bright future ahead.
