Richa Chadha, known for her versatile acting skills, is all set to mesmerize the audience with her upcoming series ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’. In a recent revelation, the talented actress shared how she drew inspiration from the legendary actor Meena Kumari to shape her character in the show.

Playing the role of Lajjo, a courtesan with a captivating persona, Richa Chadha found herself delving into the iconic performances of Meena Kumari, particularly in the timeless classic ‘Pakeezah’. She expressed, “Carefully observing, learning from and taking lessons from Meena Kumariji’s character in ‘Pakeezah’ was a truly enriching and deeply transforming experience for me ahead of shooting for Heeramandi.”

The series, set against the backdrop of the Indian freedom struggle of the 1940s, promises to be an epic saga of love, power, revenge, and freedom. Through the stories of courtesans and their patrons, ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ delves deep into the cultural reality of Heeramandi.

The recently unveiled trailer gives a glimpse into the lives of courtesans in Heeramandi, Lahore, British India. With a stellar cast including Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Sharmin Segal, the series marks Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut in the web world.
