Richmond introduces the world’s first Thai-inspired high tea experience

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Baan Lao Fine Thai Cuisine in Richmond is setting a new standard in the world of high tea with their latest offering – the “Afternoon Tea Thai Experience.” Chef and founder Natcha Phanthoupheng claims that this unique dining experience is the first of its kind globally, showcasing the best of Thai cuisine in a traditional afternoon tea format.

The menu, carefully curated after six months of research and development, features 12 bite-sized Thai dishes paired with four types of tea from Thailand, Japan, and China. From well-known favorites like mango sticky rice to lesser-known delicacies like taro balls with deep-fried rice, the menu promises a diverse and flavorful experience for guests.

However, this high tea experience comes at a price – $95 per person. Despite the steep cost, Phanthoupheng believes that their target customers are willing to pay for quality food and service. She describes their clientele as “sophisticated” individuals who appreciate fine dining and are willing to invest in a premium culinary experience.

With a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients and a commitment to providing top-notch service, Baan Lao aims to cater to a niche market of discerning diners who value quality and authenticity. Reservations are required for this exclusive afternoon tea experience, catering to those who seek a unique and elevated dining experience in Richmond.
