Rihanna Teases Simple Yet Mysterious Met Gala 2024 Look

As Rihanna dazzled at the launch event for her Fenty Beauty Soft’lit Foundation in Los Angeles, she hinted at what the fashion world can expect from her highly anticipated Met Gala appearance this year.

In a chat with Extra on the red carpet, the 36-year-old music icon and beauty mogul shared her approach for the upcoming Met Gala, scheduled for May 6 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Rihanna revealed, “I’m actually just keeping it real simple this year. I think it’s gonna come to what my makeup and what my hair is going to do. We wanna play with that, but I have no idea what I’m gonna do with that.”

Rihanna’s Met Gala ensembles have consistently set tongues wagging and trends rolling on social media. Last year, she stole the spotlight with a Karl Lagerfeld-themed look, donning a Chanel-inspired, camellia flower-covered hooded gown by Valentino with a stunning long skirt train. Completing the ensemble with fingerless gloves as a tribute to Lagerfeld, Rihanna solidified her status as a fashion icon.

Beyond the fashion world, Rihanna also teased fans about her music plans. Speaking with Extra, she hinted, “It’s gonna be amazing. It has to be — that is the only reason it’s not out yet.” Emphasizing growth and creativity, she added, “There should be a show of growth, right? I want to play, and I feel like music is a playground, and I want to have fun with it and show truly where I am at.”

This year’s Met Gala, themed Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, promises a night of exquisite style and creativity. Hosted by Zendaya, Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, and Chris Hemsworth, the event’s dress code, The Garden of Time, draws inspiration from a J.G. Ballard short story. Vogue’s Anna Wintour has also stated that guests’ attire should capture the essence of “fleeting beauty.”
