Ripley Central School Board of Education Approves Budget with No Tax Increase

RIPLEY — Ripley Central School Board of Education members approved a 2024-25 proposed budget with no increase in taxes at their meeting this month. Superintendent William Caldwell presented the budget summary, revealing that the $9,651,574 budget is only $42,161 more than the current budget.

Caldwell emphasized the district’s commitment to not raising taxes, a promise that has been upheld for the past six years. Despite increases in contractual salaries, educational supplies, and employee benefits, the budget was balanced by a decrease in debt service and an increase in earnings on investments.

The board also approved special educator Daniel Kondrick for tenure as a teaching assistant. Kondrick, who recently completed his undergraduate degree with dual certification as an elementary teacher and special educator, was praised by Ripley Principal Micah Oldham for his dedication and talent.

In addition to budget discussions, Oldham shared exciting news about Ripley students’ achievements. The school raised $5,000 for the American Heart Association through the Kids Heart Challenge, exceeding last year’s fundraising efforts. Ripley students also ranked in the top 25% of schools in a fitness challenge, earning a free assembly with musician Kevin McCarthy in May.

Furthermore, Ripley has been recommended as a Rising Star School in the Capturing Kids’ Hearts Program, a testament to the dedication of teachers and staff in embracing this initiative. Oldham commended the school community for their enthusiastic participation in the program.
