The Dalles High Riverhawks Continue Winning Streak with Dominant Performance

The No. 7-ranked The Dalles High Riverhawks showcased their dominance on the baseball field with a 9-2 victory over Class 3A Amity in a non-league game on March 26. Pitchers Trey Hodges, Evan Ortega, Cooper Cummings, and Avery Schwartz combined for a one-hitter with an impressive 13 strikeouts.

Despite taking an early 2-0 lead in the second inning, the Riverhawks faced a challenge as the Warriors managed to tie the game 2-2 with the help of three Riverhawk errors. However, The Dalles High Riverhawks quickly regained control and outscored the Warriors 7-0 over the final four innings.

Coach Pat Clark expressed some concerns about the team’s performance, citing a season-high five errors. However, he commended the offensive efforts of senior catcher Luciano Alvarado, Sam Shaver, and junior Finley Corbin.

Looking ahead, Alvarado expressed optimism about the team’s momentum carrying into the regular season games in the Tri-Valley Conference. With eyes set on the league title, the Riverhawks are determined to continue their winning ways.

In their previous matchup, the Riverhawks recorded a second straight no-hitter against the Warriors, further solidifying their dominance on the field. With a week off before their next game against Pendleton, Coach Clark is confident in the team’s ability to face tough opponents and maintain their winning streak.
