Riverside High School Softball Team Clinches First State Title with Home Run Heroics
Riverside High School’s softball team made history on Saturday as they secured their first-ever Virginia Class 5 state championship with a 6-2 victory over Kellam High School. The Rams, known for their power hitting all season, relied on home runs from seniors Kaylie Avvisato and Charlotte Moore to propel them to victory.
With a season total of 40 home runs, including standout performances from Avvisato, Moore, and senior Hailey Peterson, the Rams showcased their long ball mentality in the championship game. Coach Kevin Bednoski praised his team’s ability to make solid contact early in the game, setting the tone for their offensive onslaught.
