St. Marys and Roane County Softball Teams Dominate LKC
The softball teams of St. Marys and Roane County are making waves in the Little Kanawha Conference with their impressive performances so far this season. Both teams have maintained perfect records, standing at 10-0 as of Wednesday, and have garnered attention not only within the conference but also statewide.
St. Marys, ranked as the unanimous No. 1 in Class A according to the latest MetroNews Coaches Poll, is led by a talented roster that includes returning starters from last year’s state runner-up team. Pitcher Cali Masters and offensive powerhouses like Breanna Price, Ava Giovinazzo, and Layne Kincaid have propelled the Blue Devils to outscore their opponents 94-11.
On the other hand, Roane County, ranked No. 6 in Class AA, boasts a strong lineup with standout seniors Mahailey Nicholson and Piper Harlan. Nicholson, who will attend Concord University, has been a dominant force on the mound, striking out 18 batters in a recent game. Harlan, with a batting average of .600, plans to continue her athletic career in volleyball at the University of Charleston.
