Robert Mason of Warrant Discusses Touring Lifestyle: ‘The Travel Can Be the Most Challenging Aspect’

Reading Time: 2 minutes

In a recent interview with Larry Mac of the 96.1 KLPX radio station, WARRANT singer Robert Mason opened up about the challenges of the touring lifestyle, shedding light on the less glamorous aspects of life on the road. With much of WARRANT’s schedule consisting of fly-in dates, Mason highlighted the grueling nature of constant travel and the toll it takes on performers.

Describing the daily grind of touring, Mason compared it to a daily commute to work, emphasizing the early wake-up calls, rushed mornings, and constant travel from one city to the next. He explained how what may seem exciting to others, like packing for a trip or exploring new cities, becomes routine and necessary tasks for a traveling musician like himself. From delays in flights to navigating unfamiliar hotel rooms, Mason painted a vivid picture of the less glamorous side of touring life.

Despite the challenges, Mason expressed his love for his job and the thrill of getting on stage each night. As a singer, he highlighted the importance of taking care of himself and staying focused before each performance, emphasizing his dedication to his craft and the preparation that goes into each show. From workouts to vocal warm-ups, Mason detailed the meticulous routine leading up to the moment the lights go on and the music begins.

While WARRANT has not released new music since 2017’s “Louder Harder Faster” album, band members have hinted at potential future projects. Guitarist Erik Turner revealed that personal issues within the band have put new music on hold, but reassured fans that they are still writing and exploring ideas for the next record. Despite the uncertainty surrounding their next studio album, Mason assured fans that WARRANT is always working on new material and staying creative.

The departure of original frontman Jani Lane in 2008 marked a turning point for WARRANT, with Mason stepping in to bring stability and a fresh perspective to the band. Since then, WARRANT has continued to captivate audiences with their energetic live performances and timeless rock anthems, solidifying their status as a staple in the rock music scene.

As fans eagerly await news of a new WARRANT album, Mason’s insights into the touring lifestyle offer a glimpse into the dedication and hard work that goes into being a successful musician. Despite the challenges and sacrifices, Mason’s passion for his craft shines through, reminding fans of the magic that happens when the lights go on and the music begins to play.
