Rocksmith+ Announces Release Dates for PC and PlayStation

Ubisoft has set the official release date for its music learning service, Rocksmith+, on June 6, 2024, for PlayStation and Steam platforms. Originally released in 2022, Rocksmith+ has evolved from a rhythm game to an educational service, offering aspiring guitar and piano players the opportunity to learn through gamified lessons using real instruments.

Unlike traditional music games like Guitar Hero or Rock Band, Rocksmith+ focuses on helping players acquire real guitar and piano skills rather than providing entertainment for parties. The service features a large licensed library of songs that are updated monthly, including tracks from artists like The Smashing Pumpkins and Sharon Van Etten.

One of the unique aspects of Rocksmith+ is that it does not require any separate controllers or bespoke hardware to use. Players can download the Rocksmith Tuner app to use in conjunction with the software, using their smart device as a mic to listen to their guitar or piano playing. Guitar and bass learners can also use a Rocksmith Real Tone Cable for a wired connection to their electric guitar or bass.

While Rocksmith+ offers a free edition with limited access to songs and lessons, full access to the library and features is unlocked through a subscription plan. Players who opt for a 12-month subscription plan will also receive a 7-day free trial period. With the evolution of Rocksmith+ and other Ubisoft titles like Just Dance into subscription services, the company is aiming to provide more value to players looking to enhance their musical skills.
