Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry Co-Lead Team Event at TPC of Louisiana

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry are making waves at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, shooting an impressive 11-under 64 in the first round to grab a share of the lead. The Irish duo showcased their skills on the course, matching the teams of Ryan Brehm-Mark Hubbard, Ben Kohles-Patton Kizzire, and Aaron Rai-David Lipsky at the top of the leaderboard.

Off the course, McIlroy and Lowry are also enjoying their time in New Orleans. They indulged in some local cuisine, sampling crab beignets at a popular restaurant and exploring the vibrant food scene of the city. McIlroy expressed his delight with the city, describing it as “cool” and praising the delicious food.

On the course, McIlroy and Lowry got off to a blazing start, birdieing their first four holes and maintaining their momentum throughout the round. Lowry highlighted the importance of their fast start and their ability to complement each other’s game.

As they head into the next round, the duo will be playing alternative shot, a format that presents its own challenges but is equally enjoyable. Despite the temptation of attending the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, McIlroy and Lowry are focused on their game and staying out of trouble.

With a strong performance in the first round, McIlroy and Lowry are poised to make a run for the title at the Zurich Classic. Stay tuned to see if they can maintain their lead and emerge victorious in this unique team event.
