Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings Edge Closer to IPL 2024 Playoffs with Crucial Victories

Reading Time: 2 minutes

With just eight games remaining in the IPL 2024 league stage, the race for the playoffs is heating up as only the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have secured their spot so far. Let’s take a look at how the teams in contention are faring.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have made a remarkable comeback with their fifth consecutive win, propelling them to fifth place on the points table. With 12 points in hand and a potential to reach 14 after their upcoming match against CSK, RCB still have a shot at making it to the playoffs. However, they will need other results to go their way as SRH and LSG are also vying for a spot in the top four.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are inching closer to a playoff berth after a crucial win over RR. With 14 points, CSK’s fate hangs in the balance as they need to defeat RCB in their last game to secure a top-four finish. A loss could see them relying on other teams’ results to make it through.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) are currently in a precarious position after three consecutive defeats. With four teams still in contention to reach 16 points or more, RR will need to secure a win or two to solidify their spot in the playoffs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have a comfortable run rate advantage over LSG, and a couple of wins in their remaining games should see them through to the playoffs. However, a slip-up could see them overtaken by CSK and RCB in the race for the top four.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) face an uphill battle with their weak net run rate, requiring 16 points to stay competitive. Even then, they might fall short if CSK and SRH finish on the same points due to their inferior run rates. The race for the playoffs is intensifying, and every match from here on out will be crucial for these teams.
