The Russell-Tyler-Ruthton softball team made history on Friday night as they secured a third-place finish in the Class A state tournament. The Knights dominated West Lutheran with a final score of 12-1, showcasing their talent and determination on the field.

Senior pitcher Kya Alderson was a standout player in the game, going 4 for 4 at the plate with a double and four RBIs. In addition to her impressive performance at bat, Alderson also held West Lutheran to just one earned run on four hits while striking out 12 batters in the circle.

The Knights got off to a strong start with consecutive singles from Laken Baartman and Alderson in the first inning. They continued to rally in the second inning, with Brezlyn Buchert, Briella Buchert, and Madi Burns contributing key hits to extend their lead to 6-0.

Despite a brief comeback from West Lutheran in the third inning, RTR maintained their dominance at the plate. With solid hitting and strategic base running, they secured the win in the fifth inning with a run-rule victory.

The Knights finished the game without committing a single error, showcasing their disciplined and clean style of play. With a record of 24-5 for the season, RTR looks to the future with a talented roster of underclassmen ready to carry on their winning tradition.
