Reading Time: < 1 minute

The NBA announced its All-Defensive teams for the 2023-24 season, with Rudy Gobert of the Minnesota Timberwolves leading the way as the only unanimous selection and Defensive Player of the Year. Gobert was joined on the first team by Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs, Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat, Herb Jones of the New Orleans Pelicans, and Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Gobert, who also won his fourth Defensive Player of the Year award this season, anchored the Timberwolves’ top-ranked defense while putting up impressive stats. The Timberwolves recently eliminated the reigning champion Denver Nuggets from the postseason to advance to the Western Conference finals.

Wembanyama, in his rookie season, had a stellar campaign, leading the league in blocks and earning unanimous Rookie of the Year honors. Adebayo, after two seasons as a second-team selection, made his first appearance on the first team. Jones, known for his defensive prowess, earned his first selection, while Davis secured his fifth.

The Timberwolves and Celtics each had two players named to the All-Defensive teams. Jaden McDaniels joined Gobert on the second team, while Derrick White and Jrue Holiday formed an All-Defensive backcourt for the Celtics. Both teams have advanced to the conference finals, with Holiday earning his sixth selection and third first-team nod. The All-Defensive teams showcase the best defensive talents in the league, highlighting their impact on the court.
