Russia says US aid to Ukraine will not alter military situation

Russia dismissed the impact of fresh US aid for Ukraine on the battlefield dynamics, as Washington prepares for a crucial weekend vote on long-stalled military funding for Kyiv. The $61 billion package of funding for Ukraine, which has been delayed since last year due to political infighting in the Republican Party, is now being pushed forward by US House Speaker Mike Johnson.

Despite Ukraine’s struggles on the battlefield against Russian forces, the Kremlin remains unfazed by the prospect of additional Western military aid. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the situation on the front is currently unfavorable for Ukraine and that the aid package would not change the status quo.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has emphasized the urgent need for funding, as Kyiv relies on Western support to counter the Russian offensive. With Russian troops making territorial gains and escalating aerial attacks, the need for military assistance has become increasingly critical.
