Russia’s Victory Day marked with President Vladimir Putin’s warning of potential global clash

Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a stark warning against a potential global conflict during his address on Thursday, as he led the commemoration of the victory over Nazi Germany in World War Two. Putin emphasized Russia’s commitment to safeguarding its status as the world’s largest nuclear power, amidst escalating tensions with Western nations.

In his speech on Red Square, Putin criticized Western elites for overlooking the Soviet Union’s crucial role in defeating Nazi Germany and accused them of fueling conflicts worldwide. He highlighted Russia’s determination to prevent a global clash while maintaining the readiness of its strategic forces, stating, “Russia will do everything to prevent a global clash.”

The ongoing conflict with Ukraine was portrayed by Putin as part of a broader struggle with the West, stemming from Russia’s perceived post-Cold War humiliation and encroachment on its sphere of influence.
