Ruturaj Gaikwad believes CSK fell short by 10-15 runs against LSG, says 190 would have been a good score – Firstpost

Reading Time: < 1 minute

In a thrilling encounter between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali stole the show with a crucial half-century run stand for the sixth wicket.

CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad admitted that his team fell short by 10-15 runs after posting a total of 176 runs on the board. Jadeja’s impressive half-century, along with late contributions from Moeen Ali and MS Dhoni, helped CSK reach a competitive total.

However, LSG’s opening pair of KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock had other plans as they put on a stunning 134-run partnership for the first wicket. This partnership paved the way for LSG to secure an eight-wicket victory with an over to spare.

Gaikwad acknowledged the need for improvement in taking wickets during the powerplay, as CSK have only managed to take seven wickets in this phase throughout the season. He emphasized the importance of putting pressure on the opposition early in the game.

Player of the Match, KL Rahul, praised the bowlers for executing their plans effectively, with Krunal Pandya, Mohsin Khan, Yash Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi, and Marcus Stoinis all contributing with wickets for LSG.

Looking ahead to their next encounter in Chennai, Rahul anticipated a different challenge but expressed confidence in his team’s ability to perform in front of a passionate crowd. The stage is set for an exciting rematch between LSG and CSK as both teams look to make their mark in the IPL.
