Ryan Gosling explains why he is moving on from dark roles – Entertainment News

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Ryan Gosling, known for his intense and brooding roles in films like ‘Drive’, has made a conscious decision to steer clear of dark and depressing characters for the sake of his family. The 43-year-old actor, who shares two daughters with partner Eva Mendes, has shifted his focus to more lighthearted comedies, including his upcoming role in the film ‘Barbie’.

In a recent interview with WSJ. Magazine, Gosling revealed that his family is his top priority when choosing roles. He explained, “I don’t really take roles that are going to put me in some kind of dark place. This moment is what I feel like trying to read the room at home and feel like what is going to be best for me and my family.”

Gosling’s shift to lighter films began with ‘La La Land’, a musical that he felt would be enjoyable for his daughters, who are already showing an interest in filmmaking with their Barbie dolls. This interest in Barbie actually inspired Gosling to take on the role in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming ‘Barbie’ film, which earned him an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor.

Despite his previous darker roles, Gosling is now embracing more family-friendly projects, including his latest role as Colt Seavers in ‘The Fall Guy’. He even revealed that his daughters were concerned about him performing stunts that involved fire on set, showing just how much his family’s well-being means to him.

Overall, Ryan Gosling’s decision to prioritize his family over his career is a refreshing change in Hollywood, and fans can look forward to seeing him in more uplifting and entertaining roles in the future.
