The Fall Guy, starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, hit the theatres on Friday with high expectations. Directed by David Leitch, the action comedy film had a lacklustre start at the box office in India, collecting just Rs 50 lakh on its opening day. This was a stark contrast to Barbie, another film starring Ryan Gosling, which raked in Rs 5 crore on its opening day.
The Fall Guy premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin earlier this year and had a decent start in the US, earning $3.15 million from Thursday previews. However, the film failed to make a mark in India, with fans seemingly unimpressed by Ryan Gosling’s portrayal of stuntman Colt Seavers.
In comparison, Zendaya’s Challengers, which was also released last week, collected just Rs 4 lakhs on its opening day in India due to a limited release. The Fall Guy received a mixed review from The Indian Express film critic Shalini Langer, who gave it 2.5 stars, noting that the film relied heavily on action sequences rather than a strong plot.
Despite the underwhelming box office performance, The Fall Guy continues to run in theatres in India. Fans of Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt can catch the film and judge for themselves whether it lives up to the hype. Stay tuned for more updates on Hollywood news and entertainment updates.
