Saifuddin announces Home Ministry’s plan to use AI technology for enhanced border control

The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) is gearing up to revolutionize border control measures with the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail highlighted the importance of leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance governance and operations under the Malaysia Checkpoints and Border Agency (MCBA).

Speaking at a press conference alongside Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Saifuddin Nasution expressed excitement about exploring the security aspect of AI technology at the upcoming 2024 Defence Services Asia (DSA) and National Security Asia (Natsec) exhibitions. The ministers inspected the final preparations for the four-day exhibitions, which are set to kick off on Monday at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre.

This year’s exhibitions will see the debut of three countries as exhibitors: Singapore, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Iran. With 1,324 companies from 60 countries participating, including 34 countries with their own pavilions, the event has attracted a diverse range of industry players. Türkiye leads the pack with the largest delegation, featuring prominent companies like Aselsan, Canik, and Turkish Aerospace Industries.

Local participants from Malaysia include Deftech, Advanced Defence System, and Weststar Group, among others. The exhibitions are exclusive to high-level delegations, government officials, and professionals in the defence and security sectors, offering a platform for networking and showcasing the latest advancements in technology and innovation.
